아무~(nothing, anything)

아무 is a pronoun in Korean that refers to indefinite and unspecified people, things, or places. When combined with -도 , it expresses the meaning of 'no', and when combined with -나, it expresses the meaning of 'any'.

아무 음식도 안 먹었어요.

I ate no food.

아무것도 안 먹었어요.

I ate nothing.

아무도 절 안 좋아해요.

Nobody likes me.

• 아무 [noun]도(no [noun]), 아무것도(nothing), 아무도(no one, nobody) are always used in negative sentences(with 안 or 못).

아무것도 먹었어요. X

아무것도 안 먹었어요. O

→ If the last letter of a noun has a 받침, use -이나. If it doesn't, use -나.

아무거나 먹어요.

Let's eat anything.

아무나 오세요.

Anyone can come.
